It may be difficult to fathom, but college basketball season is already here. Coach Juwan Howard and the Michigan Wolverines are determined to maintain the same level of success they experienced in the beginning of the previous season.

However, above all else, there is a collective desire within the college basketball community for this season to reach its conclusion. The events of the previous year’s March Madness remain fresh in our minds.

As the NCAA men’s basketball season commences at the University of Michigan amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the availability of open casinos for betting on college basketball is scarce, casting uncertainty on various aspects.

Furthermore, the launch of online sports betting is still pending.

However, in the event that we are able to witness an entire college basketball season, there is optimism that Michigan may experience a favorable campaign. The team is commencing the season with a No. 25 ranking in The Associated Press preseason poll.

Bowling Green will be the first team the team faces this season, with the game scheduled for Wednesday.

On Monday, PointsBet offered odds of +3500 for Michigan and +900 for their chances of making it to the Final Four.

The odds for Michigan to win it all were +3500 at BetMGM, while William Hill had the Wolverines listed with odds of +4000.

As the casino closure continues in Michigan, there are 15 tribal casinos that remain open with certain COVID-19 restrictions if you’re interested in placing bets on college basketball. One such casino is Four Winds Casino, which is operational during the pandemic. As of Monday, Michigan had odds of +4000 to win the championship at Four Winds Casino.

Michigan hopes strong lineup leads to wins

It may be difficult to believe, but Michigan held the top spot in the country’s ranking for a brief period in 2020.

After participating in the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament, they managed to defeat North Carolina and Gonzaga back-to-back in the Bahamas.

Michigan started strong, winning the initial seven games, but their performance dipped, resulting in a mediocre 12-12 record for the remainder of the season. Their momentum dwindled further as they suffered defeats in three out of their last four games.

Last week, Zavier Simpson and Jon Teske, who were both undrafted by the NBA, have departed from the team, leaving a void in leadership.

Leading the scoring for the team is Isaiah Livers, backed by forward Franz Wagner and a promising group of young players. Notable freshmen on the roster are guard Zeb Jackson, center Hunter Dickinson, and forward Terrance Williams.

Additionally, Howard has secured the top recruiting class for the upcoming season, featuring standout players Caleb Houstan, Moussa Diabate, and Kobe Bufkin. This ensures that there will be further assistance in the following year as well.

Another loaded field in Big Ten basketball

After competing in five non-conference games at the beginning of the season, Michigan will commence their Big Ten journey on Dec. 13 against Penn State.

This year, the Wolverines have a single encounter with Ohio State on February 21 in Columbus. Furthermore, they have two upcoming matches against Michigan State, with the season finale scheduled for March 7 in East Lansing.

The AP poll includes not only Michigan at No. 25, but also six other Big Ten teams that are ranked.

  • Iowa (5)
  • Wisconsin (7)
  • Illinois (8)
  • Michigan State (13)
  • Ohio State (23)
  • Rutgers (24)

The 2020-21 college basketball season presents a challenging journey ahead. However, the Michigan Wolverines may possess the necessary elements to create a significant impact.
