Sports Illustrated Casino Launches, Filling 15th License In Michigan

On Tuesday, Sports Illustrated Casino MI was launched, marking the fulfillment of the 15th online casino license in Michigan.

888 Holdings’ VHL Michigan LLC has been granted approval by the Michigan Gaming Control Board to serve as the Hannahville Indian Community’s new online casino provider.

In addition to its existing online sportsbook in Michigan, Sports Illustrated has expanded its operations to include an online casino for Island Resort & Casino.

The launch of SI Casino Michigan took place on Tuesday at 8 a.m.

What does SI Casino Michigan offer?

Upon its launch, Sports Illustrated online casino presents a diverse range of gaming options for players to explore.

As of Tuesday morning, the following items are currently available.

• At SI Casino, you can enjoy a wide variety of live dealer games, including poker, roulette, blackjack, baccarat, and live slots. There are a total of 15 games available for your entertainment.
• SI Casino MI offers a total of 16 table games, which encompass a variety of options including video poker.
• There are a total of 342 games available at SI Casino Michigan’s slot machines.
• There are 53 exclusive games available at SI Casino.

SI Casino MI launches five months after TwinSpires closes

After a five-month period without a Michigan online casino, the Hannahville Indian Community welcomes the launch of SI Casino.

On September 6 of last year, the previous online operator, which had initially partnered with TwinSpires, made the decision to discontinue its online casino and sportsbook operations.

On September 7th, Hannahville, the operator of Island Resort & Casino, selected 888 Holdings as its new online sportsbook operator under the Sports Illustrated brand.

At the time, 888 Holdings did not possess the necessary online casino license in Michigan to initiate a Sports Illustrated casino operation.

“In a press release, Henry Williams, the executive director of the Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB), expressed his well wishes for the Hannahville tribe, hoping for their continued success as they venture into offering internet gaming and internet sports betting once again in Michigan.”

SI Sportsbook seeing growth in Michigan

On January 22, 2021, Hannahville successfully launched the TwinSpires online casino and sportsbook in Michigan.

Since its launch in early September, SI Sportsbook MI has experienced consistent growth in Michigan. The online handle has witnessed a monthly increase, reaching its peak at $1.66 million in December 2024.

In December, Hannahville achieved its highest revenue total since November 2021, back when it was still associated with TwinSpires. The recorded revenue for that month amounted to $261,568.

TwinSpires generated a total of $22.5 million in online casino revenue until September 7, 2021, before discontinuing its operations.
