Michigan Lottery Millionaires Cashword June 2021

At Playinmichigan, we were growing concerned as an entire week had passed without discovering a new Michigan Lottery millionaire.

If you have been frequently visiting our site in the past few months, you may have found it amusing. If you are not entertained, trust us when we say that this has been occurring frequently lately.

Despite any concerns about a temporary lack of wins, all worries were dispelled on Friday when a lottery announcement revealed that a woman from Ontonagon County had claimed a $1 million top prize cashing in on the 20X Cashword game.

From $5,000 to $1 million in seconds

The winning ticket was purchased by an anonymous player at the Holiday store on 103 Greenland Road in Ontonagon. Initially, the woman perceived her winnings to be relatively modest.

According to the Michigan Lottery, the player stated, “I was aware that I had multiple words and believed the ticket had a value of $5,000. To verify my assumptions, I decided to scan the ticket using the Lottery app, and that’s when I was taken aback by the shocking revelation.”

I presented my daughter and son-in-law with the news, and their immediate reaction was jumping up and down with excitement! We were all filled with joy and exhilaration!

Michigan Lottery millionaires choosing lump-sum option

The player recently went to Lottery headquarters to collect her prize, opting for a single lump sum payment of approximately $634,000 instead of receiving 30 annuity payments for the total amount. It’s worth noting that the past five winners of scratch-off ticket millionaires from the Michigan Lottery have also chosen the lump-sum option.

After receiving her winnings, the Cashwords player intends to settle bills, purchase some new toys, and wisely invest the remaining amount.

The player expressed, “Experiencing victory is a peculiar sensation. I don’t think it will truly sink in until the money is safely deposited in the bank!”

Since its launch earlier this month, the 20X Cashword game has rewarded players with over $5 million in winnings. With each $20 ticket, players have the opportunity to win prizes ranging from $20 all the way up to $1 million. There are still over $90 million worth of prizes available, including two grand prizes of $1 million and 82 prizes of $5,000.

Michigan Lottery warns of scam threats

The Lottery issued a separate announcement on Friday, cautioning the public about scam artists who pretend to be lottery prize agents or winners.

In order to claim a prize, players must possess a valid winning ticket, and the state handles all prize claims at no cost.

The lottery identifies two main categories of lottery prize scams.

In a particular scenario, an individual receives a notification via letter, email, or phone call, informing them of their significant lottery win. However, there is a catch – they are required to pay a fee in order to claim the prize. The fraudulent individual successfully persuades them to send a cashier’s check, conduct an electronic funds transfer, or even arrange a face-to-face meeting.

In a different scenario, an individual receives a communication via mail, email, or phone call from someone who asserts to be a lottery winner. This deceitful individual proceeds to inform the person that they will generously share their winnings but only if the person sends them money first. Should the individual agree, the scam artist employs the same aforementioned methods to carry out the collection of the supposed prize.

In certain instances, the scam artist may return to the victim after receiving funds and request additional payment for unforeseen processing expenses or fees, employing various excuses in an attempt to extract further money from the victim.
