PokerStars MI Players Win $618K in Fall Fest 50/50 Series

There is a joke regarding poker odds that goes like this: What are the odds of getting the card you require to win the hand? It’s a simple fifty-fifty, as you either succeed in hitting it or you don’t.
The Fall Fest 50/50 Series by PokerStars Michigan concluded on Monday night. Despite encountering numerous “coin-flip” scenarios in the 50 events, Michigan’s poker players showcased their expertise and managed to secure over $618,000 in prize winnings.
Fifty $50 tournaments attract 12,725 entries over 10 days
The name of the series was derived from two sources: the 50 events planned from November 20th to 29th, and the consistent $50 buy-in for each tournament. However, the guarantees differed, resulting in a total of $507,000 in prize money for the entire series.
In total, Michigan poker players emerged victorious, claiming a whopping $618,098 in Fall Fest 50/50 events. The number of entries, encompassing both initial entries and re-entries, amounted to 12,725, with an average of 254 entries per event.
Ultimately, 42 out of the 50 events managed to surpass their guarantees with substantial participation. Out of the remaining eight events that experienced overlays, none of them were particularly significant. The most substantial overlays occurred early in the series, where a couple of events fell short by approximately $2,200 in meeting their guarantees.
The biggest prize pool was found in the eight-handed no-limit hold’em Main Event (No. 42), which boasted a record-breaking $50,000 guarantee.
Player “joeyd1213” emerged as the ultimate victor in The Main Event, surpassing a vast field of competitors and securing a prize pool of $53,326. With a staggering total of 1,172 entries, “joeyd1213” claimed the top position and was awarded an impressive prize of approximately $8,400.
Michigan in the middle: MI Fall Fest larger than NJ, but behind PA
During a 10-day period, PokerStars hosted two independent Fall Fest series on its US sites in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Although Michigan’s Fall Fest was not as large-scale as the Pennsylvania event, it managed to surpass the series held in New Jersey.
Both PokerStars PA and PokerStars NJ hosted a series of 40 events each, however, they varied in terms of buy-ins and guarantees.
The Pennsylvania series boasted the highest guarantees, amounting to $1 million. Throughout the series, almost every tournament surpassed the guaranteed prize pools, with only three experiencing minor overlays. Ultimately, the Fall Fest of PokerStars PA concluded with players winning a remarkable $1.25 million.
In New Jersey, the Fall Fest series on PokerStars NJ boasted a total guarantee of $412,500. Out of the 40 events held, nine of them offered overlays, resulting in players ultimately securing over $466,000 in winnings throughout the entire series.
PokerStars MI’s Fall Fest 50/50 outdraws BetMGM Poker MI series
PokerStars MI’s Fall Fest 50/50 outperformed BetMGM Poker MI’s End Boss Poker Series last week, establishing its superiority as the state’s sole online poker room.
The smaller series, held from November 23rd to 28th, consisted of only seven tournaments, resulting in players collectively earning nearly $250,000 in winnings.
It is highly likely that PokerStars MI will organize another tournament series in December.
