Seven-tournament series named after new brand ambassador Darren Elias

The series takes its name from four-time World Poker Tour champion Darren Elias, nicknamed “End Boss” thanks to his repeated ability to finish strong in tournaments. In September, Elias became a brand ambassador for the partypoker US network that includes BetMGM Poker.

According to Luke Staudenmaier, Director of Poker for BetMGM, Elias helped craft the series schedule.

“During the development process, we worked closely with Darren, a poker legend, to ensure that the series was accessible to those celebrating the holiday weekend and created with the entire partypoker US network in mind, from our recreational players to our most competitive players,” Staudenmaier said.

The Michigan version of the End Boss Poker Series features buy-ins ranging from $215 to $1,060. That largest buy-in is for the Main Event scheduled Sunday, Nov. 28. The Main Event will be an eight-max no-limit hold’em tournament with a $100,000 guarantee.

A pot-limit Omaha tournament, a progressive knockout bounty event and a NLHE freezeout each appear on the series schedule as well. Here’s a look at all seven events:

No. Date Time (ET) Event (Gtd.) Buy-in
1 Nov. 23 (Tu) 7:00 p.m. $30K Gtd. NLH 8-Max $535
2 Nov. 24 (W) 7:00 p.m. $15K Gtd. PLO 8-Max $215
3 Nov. 25 (Th) 7:00 p.m. $20K Gtd. NLH 8-Max Progressive KO Bounty $320
4 Nov. 26 (F) 7:00 p.m. $10K Gtd. NLH – Friday Night Freezeout $215
5 Nov. 27 (Sa) 5:00 p.m. $30K Gtd. NLH 6-Max $535
6 Nov. 28 (Su) 5:00 p.m. $100K Gtd. NLH 8-Max – The End Boss Main Event $1,060
7 Nov. 28 (Su) 7:00 p.m. $20K Gtd. NLH 8-Max – Second Chance $215

The winner of the End Boss Main Event will earn extra bonuses on top of first-place prize money. For one, the player will be crowned “End Boss” of Michigan. Also, the winner will earn free entry into a special New Year Knockout PKO tournament at BetMGM Poker MI.

Three states, three End Boss BetMGM Poker Series for partypoker US network

Much as PokerStars has recently run simultaneous but separate series on each of its three US sites, the partypoker US network will do the same by running distinct End Boss Poker Series on the same dates in Michigan, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey.

In Pennsylvania, the partypoker US network includes both BetMGM Poker PA and Borgata Poker PA. There, the End Boss Poker Series will feature $230,000 in guarantees, slightly more than the Michigan version.

In New Jersey, the partypoker US network features three sites sharing a single player pool: partypoker NJ, Borgata Poker NJ and BetMGM Poker NJ. In NJ, the seven tournaments’ guarantees will add up to $315,000.

As with PokerStars, the partypoker US network sites do not presently have a multi-state agreement between the different states’ sites, meaning no sharing of player pools across the states. Thus, the three End Boss Poker Series in MI, PA and NJ necessarily will run separately. That is to say, in each case players will only compete against others within their own state.

The scheduling of such simultaneous series, however, does perhaps prefigure plans to run multi-state tournament series at a later date when player pools can be shared.

End Boss taking place of monthly BetMGM Online Series

It appears the End Boss Poker Series will run on BetMGM Poker MI at the end of November as a slightly augmented version of the site’s regular BetMGM Online Series. The latter has run each month since the site first launched in March 2021.

The most recent BetMGM Online Series in October awarded just more than $288,000, besting the $230,000 in total guarantees.
