Partypoker Michigan Review
Partypoker Michigan Review
Disclaimer: Partypoker is not live in Michigan yet. This review is speculative based on partypoker’s offerings in other states and will be updated after the Michigan launch.
The online poker brand partypoker is no newcomer in the United States. In fact, the online poker room technically holds the title as the first widely recognized online poker site in North America. Launched in 2001, the online poker operator soon started heavily advertising on major TV outlets.
When the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) was enacted in 2006, partypoker elected to leave the US market. This decision allowed the company to be officially welcome back into regulated US markets.
Currently, partypoker NJ is one of the top three online poker rooms in the Garden State. In addition, its parent company, GVC Holdings, is nothing short of bullish in regard to expansion. Expect a big splash when partypoker officially launches in Michigan.
Here’s what we expect from this legal, licensed, and regulated online poker room when it officially launches in the Wolverine State. In addition, we preview what bonus offers we expect, such as a welcome bonus for new players, a matched bonus specifically tied to your first deposit, and a lucrative loyalty program.
- $25 no-deposit bonus + 100% match bonus up to $1,000 on first deposit
- Ample tournament schedule along with attractive guarantees
- Continuously running special promotions & series throughout the year
- 100% legal online poker operator regulated & licensed by the MCGB

PartyPoker loyalty program
Loyalty pays at partypoker.com. However, just how does its loyalty program work exactly?
Here is a quick breakdown of what exactly the loyalty program entails:
- Create your PartyPoker player account.
- By making real money wagers, you earn points.
- Loyalty level gets assigned to you based on your play.
- Now redeem points for either cash back, tournament tickets, electronics, clothes or other luxury items in the loyalty store.
In addition, you can even earn points during special events or promotions. In fact, sometimes these points are worth even more than points earned during non-promotion periods.
As stated above, you earn two points for every $1 spent in ring cash game rake or tournament fees. Typically, you will see the points awarded to your account within 24 hours. However, sometimes this may be delayed. Points then reset to zero at the start of each new month or every quarter depending on your loyalty level.
Make sure to keep your status active by earning some type of points in a 12-week period. Otherwise, once your account is deemed inactive, either five points or 5% of your available points are deducted for every additional week that your account is inactive.
Finally, if your inactive status lasts more than 20 weeks, you forfeit the remaining points from your account. Easily end your inactive status by making any real money wager.
Party Poker loyalty status and points required:
- Bronze: 0+ points each month
- Silver: 50+ points each month
- Gold: 750+ points each month
- Palladium: 2,000+ points each month
Additionally, earn tournament entries based upon your loyalty status level:
- Bronze: $5 ticket
- Silver: $215 tickets
- Gold: $215 tickets
- Palladium: $215 tickets
Finally, here is the max amount of cashback or rakeback you earn based on your loyalty status:
- Bronze: max of 6.7%
- Silver: max of 15.4%
- Gold: max of 20.5%
- Palladium: max of 30.7%
Partypoker software
It is not exactly a well-kept secret that the partypoker software was plagued for years by stability issues such as crashing, freezing, and even disappearing during poker sessions. In particular, historically, when we would play a longer poker session, the client would suffer from multiple crashes. Then, it would reboot, causing us to miss some blinds or hands.
However, as of 2019, it appears partypoker has taken some major steps to improving the software from a stability standpoint, adding features and a visual overhaul of the clients for desktop and mobile.
In March of 2020, the update added fun features like Rabbit Hunt and Diamond where you can choose to see the remainder of the cards not dealt to completion. Additionally, in heads-up cash games, both poker players need to play an equal number of hands (post the same number of big blinds) before leaving. This is huge in discouraging players from “bum hunting” and really promotes player fairness.
As for the app, we happen to think that it offers the best experience for multi-tabling because you simply swipe your mobile screen to switch between tables. The best part is a bar at the top of the screen that displays not just your hand but a progress bar so you do not time out. However, this isn’t to say you should play a multitude of tables.
There are still remaining software issues despite the improvements and continuous effort to solicit player feedback.
For example, the poker lobby will lag, and the issue continues to become worse the longer your poker session. How this affected us is we would open the tournament lobby that we wanted to enter. At times, the tournament lobby would switch to a different one due to the lag.
It must be said though that, despite the remaining issues, we are optimistic and excited to see what other improvements and updates partypoker will release.
In addition, there are some amazing features available in the app that make us feel as though we are playing on a desktop instead. We can easily filter games, stakes, and even players. Overall, you can easily adjust any necessary settings. Finally, throw your opponent kisses or even eggs with emoticons.
How to download the partypoker app
The partypoker client is available on major operating systems like Windows and Mac for desktop, and iOS and Android for mobile.
Simply head to the PartyPoker Michigan website and start your download automatically. However, do note that for Android devices, there are some additional steps to take. Make sure to enable or check the boxes for “non-market apps” under your settings, then security and “unknown sources.”
The download will prompt on your Android as a suspicious download, so you will need to manually override that by clicking “yes” to download anyway.
You can be sure that the .apk file is completely safe and secure because you are playing with a 100% legal poker room in the state of Michigan.
Poker games at PartyPoker MI
Variety is the spice of life, and it certainly appears to be true here at PartyPoker. Not only are there different poker game formats and stakes, but you can even find some of the less well-known games like stud.
Cash games
For poker cash games, look for PartyPoker to offer hold’em, stud, and Omaha tables. Additionally, stakes will have a large range, from as little as $0.01/$0.02 up to $25/50 for high stakes.
A stud table will be the most difficult if not impossible to fill unless possibly during a special series where player traffic is high. This isn’t the fault of partypoker. Rather, stud is just not that popular of a poker game type. Omaha is a better bet because it is more popular among poker players. Thus, you can expect to see one or a handful of tables at micro stakes during high traffic hours.
Hold’em is going to be your best bet for finding opponents and tables running in ring games. You can usually expect to see tables running from the lowest stakes to $1/$2. For higher stakes, look to play heads-up where you may find an opponent.
Overall though, cash ring games are suffering in online poker across all operator sites. Partially, at least, it is just that poker players seem to gravitate more toward tournaments, so the demand just isn’t there.
Fastforward
The idea behind fastforward is to eliminate any waiting between hands. Thus, once you fold a hand, you will be immediately switched to a new table with new opponents to begin a new hand without waiting out the rest of the hand you previously folded. We really like the idea behind fastforward; unfortunately, it just doesn’t seem to be a popular choice as it is difficult to ever find this game type running.
Sit & Go (SNG) tournaments
You have your choice between no-limit hold’em or Omaha formats. Buy-ins are of a wide range too, from as little as $1 up to $500. Additionally, you can choose between a turbo or standard format and heads-up or six-max.
Again, at times it can be difficult to find one of these running. Poker players just seem to prefer tournaments best.
Multi-table tournaments (MTTs)
You really do have a nice tournament schedule to choose from. In addition to the tournaments below, partypoker often runs special promotions or tournament series. Not only are guarantees increased, but also there is typically a robust player field for not just tournaments but other game types like cash games or sit & gos.
Here are the usual tournaments that occur weekly or daily:
- Daily $10,000 GTD you can 2x re-enter for $109.
- Daily $3,000 GTD with turbo structure and you can 2x re-enter for $55.
- Daily $3,000 GTD with turbo structure. This is a 1x re-enter for $215.
- Daily $215 Black Chip Bounty
- Mega $535 Tuesday with $12,000 GTD featuring a six-max NLH format
- Mega $320 Thursday with $7,500 GTD
- Sunday Starter $3,000 GTD
- Sunday $35,000 GTD you can re-enter 3x for $215.
- Sunday $5,000 GTD featuring six-max NLH with a turbo structure

Partypoker customer support
You can speak to customer support at partypoker through three methods:
- Live chat
- Toll-free phone number
Moreover, customer support agents are available around the clock, 24/7.
In our experience, we feel that customer support at partypoker is either great or not. In addition, there are times when it seems that the live chat option is a bit unstable. We have seen agents connecting and disconnecting, so we needed to start from scratch again at getting our issues resolved.
It’s not that the agents aren’t friendly or polite. We have had a good experience in that regard, but it’s just that they seem limited in what they can answer or provide. Should you have a more complicated issue that requires customer support, we recommend emailing rather than using the live chat option. On the other hand, we have had to email several follow-ups to get our issue of banking resolved.
History of partypoker
GVC Holdings has owned the partypoker brand since 2015. In addition, GVC partners with MGM Resorts International and has formed a company called Roar Digital. This sports betting deal was worth over $200 million. This means that partypoker has a foothold in every state that chooses to legalize online gambling and also has either an MGM or Boyd Gaming anchor casino.
It certainly seems that GVC has an eye on expansion here in the United States. While we await launch in Michigan, there are also other states where partypoker’s launch is imminent such as Nevada and Pennsylvania. In fact, partypoker PA should launch in 2020.
Also, PartyPoker owns skins in New Jersey such as BorgataPoker NJ and BetMGM NJ.
