Additionally, the fact that he only had to outperform a few hundred individuals made the competition seem more attainable and within reach.

Estes’ instincts were proven right as he dominated the field, maintaining the highest chip count for a significant part of the tournament. Upon reaching the final table, Estes held over twice the number of chips compared to his nearest competitor.

Estes explained that although winning five grand wouldn’t have a significant impact on his life, the opportunity to win $600,000 had the potential to completely transform it. Estes expresses that his motivation to pursue the Main Event has been reignited after this victory.

Fortunately, his wife has become more understanding of his aspirations in poker.

Estes expressed that while his wife is generally supportive of his poker playing, the thought of him being away for a whole week to play poker seemed like a challenge.
