PokerStars MICOOP Michigan Report September 2021

The final week of the Michigan Online Championship of Poker (MICOOP) at PokerStars Michigan is now underway.

The MICOOP has seen players take home nearly $1 million in winnings thus far, and there are still exciting events ahead, including the highly anticipated two-day $300 buy-in Main Event with a guaranteed prize pool of $150,000.

Most guarantees met through first 40 PokerStars MICOOP events

Michigan online poker players have accumulated a total of $978,712.20 in winnings from MICOOP events. Within the initial 10 days, the events have enticed over 11,000 participants, including re-entries.

MICOOP has recently reached its halfway point after completing 40 out of 68 tournaments. The series is advancing steadily towards surpassing the total guaranteed prize pools of just over $1.5 million by the end.

Prize pools in the majority of events have exceeded their guarantees, resulting in larger payouts. Out of the 40 events held, only six experienced a shortfall. Notably, the tournament with the highest guarantee, the $90,000 Sunday Special held yesterday, had the largest overlay of approximately $5,700.

Only two MICOOP Championship Trophies have been earned thus far. The initial trophy was secured by Player “Pillzebub” during the Big Kickoff event, while the second trophy was claimed by “TWOsl0w4u” in a pot-limit Omaha High Roller event.

There are still five more “trophy” events that have been designated and are yet to take place. Among them are the $1,000 buy-in no-limit hold-’em High Roller and the $300 Main Event, both scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 26. You can find the complete MICOOP schedule by clicking here.

MICOOP close to pace of first series earlier this year

The second MICOOP is achieving a turnout that is nearly on par with the first MICOOP, which took place on PokerStars MI shortly after the site’s launch in February and March.

The inaugural MICOOP, comprising 60 events, concluded with a total prize pool exceeding $2.2 million. PokerStars MI responded to the series’ impressive performance by boosting the guarantees midway through, raising them from the initial $1 million to nearly $1.43 million.

Based on the comparison of prize pools and guarantees, it appears that the MICOOP series is on track to award approximately $1.8 million. However, there are still many exciting tournaments on the schedule, including the highly anticipated trophy events mentioned earlier.

Michigan COOP behind Pennsylvania, ahead of New Jersey

During the same dates, PokerStars is hosting simultaneous COOP series at its other US sites. Currently, Pennsylvania is in the lead among the trio in terms of entries and money awarded, with Michigan closely following and New Jersey trailing behind both.

The PACOOP on PokerStars PA in Pennsylvania has awarded players a total of $1.27 million in winnings across 41 events. These tournaments have seen an impressive participation of nearly 15,000 entries. The guaranteed prize pool for the PACOOP amounts to a whopping $2 million.

In New Jersey, the NJCOOP on PokerStars NJ has successfully distributed over $655,000 in prize money after 35 events and nearly 6,000 entries. The total guaranteed amount in the NJ series reaches $1 million.

MICOOP Main Event, Depositor Freeroll coming Sunday

The MICOOP Main Event is scheduled to begin this Sunday, Sept. 26, featuring a guaranteed prize pool of $150,000. While the buy-in for this event is $300, there are various opportunities to secure a seat at a lower cost.

One way to secure a seat in the Main Event is by participating in the MICOOP Depositor Freeroll, which is held in the afternoon on the 26th. To qualify for this freeroll, PokerStars MI players simply need to deposit a minimum of $30 and use the promo code “MICOOP”. The top 50 players in the freeroll will be awarded seats in the Main Event.

This week, players have the opportunity to win Main Event seats through $3 Spin & Go’s. Additionally, there are various satellites available for the Main Event and other MICOOP tournaments throughout the entire week.

Make sure to remember the Second Chance Freerolls available to players who are eliminated from any MICOOP event without making it to the money. These players will receive a complimentary entry into the Second Chance Freeroll taking place the next day. Throughout the series, these freerolls will distribute a total of $5,000 worth of MICOOP tickets as prizes.
