BetMGM Online Poker Series Michigan October 2021

It’s a new month, which means BetMGM Poker Michigan is ready to roll out another new installment of its popular BetMGM Online Series. This month, the series takes place Oct. 24-31, with guaranteed prize pools adding up to $230,000.

8 days, 10 events; $20 “Mini” already shaping up to be a big one

Those guarantees are close to the $240,000 for the September running of the series. Last month, BetMGM Online Series players ended up winning just more than $357,000 all told.

Following form, the October version BetMGM Online Series again features 10 events spread over eight days. Buy-ins range from the $20 “Mini” event scheduled on the first Sunday up to a series-climaxing $1,060 event on the final Sunday, beginning in the late afternoon on Halloween.

Once again, all but one of the events are no-limit hold’em, with the exception being a single pot-limit Omaha event. There are a couple of progressive knockout bounty events as well.

Here’s a look at the full October BetMGM Online Series schedule at BetMGM Poker MI:

No. Date Time (ET) Event (Gtd.) Buy-in

6 Oct. 28 (Th) 8:00 p.m. $10K Gtd. PLO 8-Max $109
7 Oct. 29 (F) 8:00 p.m. $10K Gtd. NLH 6-Max Turbo $109
8 Oct. 30 (Sa) 8:00 p.m. $20K Gtd. NLH 8-Max Progressive KO Bounty $320
9 Oct. 31 (Su) 5:00 p.m. $40K Gtd. NLH 8-Max Sunday Special $215
10 Oct. 31 (Su) 5:00 p.m. $50K Gtd. NLH 8-Max $1,060

Even though the series is still more than a week and a half away, players have begun preregistering for events. Once again, the $20 “Mini” appears as though it will be popular.

The low buy-in tournament has a $10,000 guarantee. However, as of Tuesday afternoon, more than 1,800 had registered to push the prize pool close to $33,000 already. The September version of that event attracted nearly 2,400 entries for an almost $43,000 prize pool.

BetMGM Poker MI hopes to match or exceed previous series high

Last month’s series was the sixth time the site has hosted the BetMGM Online Series.

The most money awarded in a single BetMGM Online Series came in August, when players won a little more than $432,000 in 11 events. That month was also the only time the series has featured 11 rather than 10 tournaments.

The September total came just shy of matching the second-highest total of just over $360,000 that came in the very first BetMGM Online Series at BetMGM Poker MI back in April.

Another heads-up battle between BetMGM Poker MI and PokerStars MI

On the day this month’s BetMGM Online Series kicks off, PokerStars Michigan will provide some competition. That’s because on Oct. 24, PokerStars MI hosts its own special event, the two-day, $300 buy-in Michigan Classic.

The last running of the BetMGM Online Series likewise found the only two Michigan online poker sites going head-to-head, as the series coincided with the Michigan Championship of Online Poker (MICOOP) at PokerStars MI.

The MICOOP in September ultimately awarded almost $1.79 million across 68 events.

Meanwhile, both sites continue to wait and watch to see when WSOP.com might launch its Michigan site to bring a third “player” to the MI online poker table.
