Detroit Lions betting preview NFL week 6

Once again, the underdog Detroit Lions will secure a perfect 6-for-6 record on Sunday as they face the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 6, this time on their home turf.

On Monday, the Lions were predicted to be underdogs by 3.5 points against the visiting Bengals, according to prominent Michigan sportsbooks. Previously, when the lines for Detroit’s initial 16 games were released during the summer, the odds favored Cincinnati by just 1 point. Throughout the week, the margin remained at 3.5 points across all sportsbooks and remained unchanged until Sunday morning.

On Monday, Caesars Sportsbook, BetMGM, PointsBet, and BetRivers Sportsbook established the over/under at 48.5 points. However, by the end of the work week, the total decreased to either 47 points or 46.5 points, depending on the operator.

Cincinnati arrives with a commendable 3-2 record, showcasing a promising blueprint that the Lions could potentially emulate in the coming years.

During this offseason, Detroit needs to prioritize finding its quarterback of the future, whereas Cincinnati appears to be in good shape with Burrow leading the team in his second season.

In the upcoming game on Sunday, it is expected that Cincy will have the capability to easily defeat weaker teams like the Lions. This prediction is being taken into account by oddsmakers.

After missing two straight weeks, public scattered on Detroit

There has been some inconsistency among bettors when it comes to Detroit.

The Lions have a 3-2 record against the spread, successfully covering in Weeks 1, 3, and 5. However, they have failed to cover in every other week.

According to the pattern, it is suggested to place a bet against the Lions for this week.

Bettors heavily favored Detroit in a spread loss against Chicago, but were then deceived when they placed bets on the Vikings -10 in a Week 5 game. Surprisingly, Detroit managed to keep the game close.

Currently, there is less involvement from them, as BetMGM reveals that Michigan bettors are predominantly placing wagers on the Arizona vs. Cleveland game.

According to FanDuel Sportsbook, 57% of the spread handle for the Cincinnati vs. Detroit game is in favor of the Lions. However, BetMGM reports that 73% of the spread action is on the Bengals, while DraftKings MI has it at 70%.

According to DK, 80% of the handle for the over/under was on under 46.5 points.

Injury report clean, but no Taylor Decker still

There was initially hope for left tackle Taylor Decker’s return by now, but it seems unlikely that he will play on Sunday. Despite not participating in Friday’s practice, there is still a possibility that the team may activate him from injured reserve this weekend.

Defensive end Trey Flowers, running back D’Andre Swift, tight end T.J. Hockenson, and running back Jamaal Williams, all of whom missed practice time this week, were limited in Friday’s practice and are now considered questionable for Sunday’s game.

The Bengals will be missing guard D’Ante Smith due to a knee injury. Additionally, guard Jackson Carman, running back Joe Mixon, and wide receiver Mike Thomas are uncertain for the game.

Lions lose again in Minnesota, again in a heartbreaker

Oh, brother.

The Detroit Lions suffered their fifth consecutive defeat on Sunday, falling to a record of 0-5 against Minnesota with a final score of 19-17.

For the second time in three weeks, Detroit faced another heartbreaking defeat as Greg Joseph sealed the game with a 54-yard field goal on the final play of regulation.

Despite their efforts to overcome a 16-6 deficit and take the lead, the Lions unfortunately suffered their fifth consecutive loss to begin the season.

On Sunday, Jared Goff, the quarterback for Detroit, completed 21 out of 35 pass attempts, accumulating a total of 203 passing yards and throwing one interception.

Bengals fall to visiting Green Bay Packers, 25-22

The season’s tour of Cincinnati will come to an end with their visit to Detroit, where they will face off against NFC North teams.

After defeating Minnesota in their season opener, the Bengals faced a defeat when playing against Chicago.

On Sunday, the Cincinnati Bengals suffered a 25-22 defeat against the Green Bay Packers, who were playing as visitors. The game extended into overtime and was characterized by numerous unsuccessful field goal attempts, with Mason Crosby missing three before finally delivering the winning kick. Similarly, Evan McPherson, representing the Bengals, also missed a couple of potential game-winning field goals.
