A man from Macomb County in Michigan has emerged as the newest winner of the Diamond 7’s game in the Michigan Lottery. When we say big, we really mean it, as he is the largest winner since July and one of the biggest winners of the entire year.

On September 1st, at the 18-Dequindre Convenience store in Sterling Heights, a fortunate customer scored the grand prize of $4 million upon buying a ticket for the Diamond 7’s scratch-off game.

Michigan Lottery winner double-checks result to confirm; partying begins

Despite speaking with the Michigan Lottery about his good fortune, the 33-year-old winner opted to remain anonymous.

He explained that he enjoys playing a range of instant games and mentioned that he had recently chosen to play the Diamond 7’s game because it was a newly added option in the scratch game collection.

Diamond 7s, the new game that debuted in August, requires a $30 entry fee. Players have a 1 in 3.47 chance of winning back their initial investment, as the starting prize is set at $30. The prize amounts progressively increase, reaching up to $15,000. However, the stakes skyrocket with a grand prize of $4 million. Remarkably, only three lucky tickets hold the possibility of claiming this incredible sum, and the initial winner from Macomb County has already emerged victorious.

He provided an explanation, saying that after scanning the ticket and receiving a claim filing message, he decided to take it home and have a family member scan it using their Lottery app.

In addition to ticket scanning for checking winnings, the Michigan Lottery mobile app offers cash prize online games and the convenience of purchasing lottery tickets within the app.

Upon first glance, the family member examined the ticket and confidently declared that the player had snagged a $500 victory. Nonetheless, their assessment proved to be slightly inaccurate.

“Upon scanning the ticket using the app, and discovering that it held a $4 million prize, our astonishment was overwhelming,” he exclaimed. “It instantly transformed into a joyous celebration!”

Diamond 7’s win follows other seven-figure scores in scratch-off games

When the man visited the Michigan Lottery headquarters in Lansing to claim his prize, he made the decision to receive a lump sum of $2.5 million instead of receiving the entire $4 million in 30 annual installments.

The Michigan Lottery reports that winners have already collected over $23 million by playing Diamond 7’s. Moreover, a substantial sum of over $128 million in prizes remains, including the two remaining top prizes of $4 million each.

Following last week’s report about a Tuscola County woman winning $1 million in Ruby Mine, another scratch-off game by the Michigan Lottery, there is now news of another individual winning $1 million playing Red Hot Millions, yet another popular scratch-off game.

In the January drawing of the multi-jurisdictional game Mega Millions, the four-member Oakland County Lottery Club emerged as the ultimate victor, securing a staggering $1.05 billion. They stand as the Michigan Lottery’s most triumphant winners of the year.
