Michigan Casinos Mask Thanksgiving 2021

Michigan casinos are now adhering to the mask recommendation issued by the state health department in late 2021 for indoor gatherings.

Starting from November and extending into the upcoming year, Greektown Casino, MotorCity Casino, and MGM Grand Detroit in Detroit have reintroduced the mandatory use of masks for all individuals aged 2 and above, irrespective of their vaccination status.

Michigan casinos with mask mandates now include the Detroit casinos and Gun Lake Casino in Wayland.

Citing the upcoming holidays as well as the surge in COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations statewide, the advisory was issued by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services.

MotorCity will require masks on the casino floor, not at Sound Board

Visitors attending a show at Sound Board in MotorCity have a convenient loophole.

According to the MotorCity website, the current policy does not include guests attending banquets or events in Sound Board. The website states that updates will be provided as the situation progresses.

According to the casino, the requirement to wear masks on the casino floor will remain in place indefinitely.

Masks required at MGM Grand, unless you’re eating, drinking

Face masks were mandated once more in November at MGM Grand, Michigan’s most bustling casino.

Nevertheless, the casino conveyed to its customers via email that they must wear a face mask continuously, unless they are currently consuming food or beverages. Additionally, in case any individual or their companion requires a face mask, it will be supplied upon their arrival at the casino floor.

The downtown Detroit casino has officially announced a requirement for masks in Greektown.

More mask mandates could be on the way for Michigan casinos

Last year, during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, all casinos in the state were forced to close down. However, in the latter half of the year, they gradually resumed their operations, albeit with certain restrictions in place.

The mask mandate at Little River Casino Resort in Manistee was in effect for all guests until it was lifted on October 1st. Tribal casinos in Michigan, like Gun Lake, are not bound by state mandates and typically rely on guidance from their own tribal health departments to establish regulations for their establishments.

Further updates may be expected regarding additional mask mandates for Michigan casinos. Stay tuned for more information.
