With a tally in the win column (finally!), Dan Campbell and the Detroit Lions are looking to keep their sliver of positivity rolling in Week 14 against the Denver Broncos.

Next up for Detroit is a trip Sunday to the Mile High City. Despite the high from Sunday’s 29-27 win against the Minnesota Vikings, oddsmakers still see the Lions as underdogs for the 13th time in 13 game weeks.

Detroit opened on Sunday night as a varied underdog between 7.5 and 8.5 points, depending on which legal Michigan sports betting site you were viewing. Denver was favored by 7.5 points when lines were released over the summer.

The over/under for Detroit’s visit to Denver is set for 43.5 points.

The Broncos are coming off a 22-9 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday Night Football. But before that game against their division rivals, the Broncos had won three out of their previous four games.

Denver trip is the extra game NFL added to the schedule

With the NFL adding a 17th game to schedules this season, the league had to find another opponent outside of the regular rotating schedule, which had included: all three division teams twice (six games); a complete run through another division in each conference (four games in each division for eight total games); and a game against an opponent of equal placement in the two other divisions within one’s conference (two games).

That trip to Denver is the 17th game for Detroit this year.

The AFC has the extra home game on the schedule, a privilege that will be enjoyed by NFC teams next season.

Denver started the season 3-0 but then dropped its next four games. The Broncos are still in the thick of the AFC playoff picture at 6-6.

The health situation of running back Melvin Gordon (hip/shoulder) has been an ongoing storyline and one to watch for bettors this week. He did not play against the Chiefs.
