Evolution has been authorized to provide live dealer casino games here through its Southfield studios starting Thursday morning, the Michigan Gaming Control Board announced on Wednesday.

Blackjack, baccarat and roulette will be the first live dealer casino games added on July 22. In the future, more games may be added.

Live casino games feature an actual dealer dealing an actual game in Southfield, which players see on a video while making their bets through the online platform.

Evolution is a game supplier and has already partnered with several Michigan online casino platforms to provide games. Another provider, Playtech, has also designated space in Southfield for live casino games but has not yet been authorized.

“Players can use a mobile device or computer to play typical land-based casino games like blackjack, baccarat and roulette with a real-time, live dealer,” MGCB executive director Henry Williams said in a news release. “Cameras capture the dealer and the play, and the providers’ apps or websites share it live with remote players.”

The launch is set for 10 a.m. Thursday on the six-month anniversary of the internet gaming launch here in Michigan, which was Jan. 22.

Many Michigan online casinos will add live dealer games

In the MGCB’s announcement, the regulator noted that multiple providers will offer live dealer studio games, including Barstool Casino, BetMGM Casino, BetRivers Casino, DraftKings Casino, FanDuel Casino, Golden Nugget Casino, Stars Casino, TwinSpires Casino, William Hill Casino and WynnBET Casino.  The MGCB said those platforms will individually announce when they will provide the games.

According to the MGCB, Evolution was approved after fulfilling Michigan internet gaming regulatory requirements, including an on-site review by gaming control board staff.

How will live dealer games affect the MI online casino market?

Live casino games were a game-changer in New Jersey. Golden Nugget, in particular, saw heavy revenue gains, becoming a market leader in the nation’s leading online casino state.

It remains to be seen how much of an impact live dealer games will have in Michigan. The thriving market here is dominated by BetMGM. After Monday’s release of June internet gaming numbers, $483.1 million of revenue has been raised by internet gaming, which includes online poker.

The revenue has raised $85.2 million in state taxes, $24.0 million in taxes and fees for the city of Detroit, and $9.1 million for tribal operators.
