Online gambling giant PlayTech is launching a US live casino studio in Southfield, the company announced Monday.

The United Kingdom gambling software developer says it secured a long-term lease in the Detroit suburb to house its live dealer products, which could launch in Michigan online casinos this year.

The studios should have space for live casino games such as blackjack, roulette and baccarat. Players eventually will be able to play throughout the state through online operators. The studio will have operator-dedicated tables and networked tables, according to a company announcement Monday.

PlayTech partnered with Parx, Gun Lake Tribe

PlayTech recently announced a partnership with Parx Casino, which will have Michigan online market access through the Gun Lake Tribe in west Michigan.

Parx and the tribe, which operates Gun Lake Casino in Wayland, have not yet been approved to launch online sports betting or internet gaming products by the Michigan Gaming Control Board.

Evolution Gaming, which has partnered with several Michigan internet gaming brands for live dealer products, has not yet announced its live dealer studio’s location. NetEnt announced it will launch the Evolution studio this year.

Eleven online casinos have launched in Michigan. The companies earned nearly $80 million of internet gaming revenue in February, the state’s first full month since the Jan. 22 launch. The casino revenue was a record amount for any state’s first full month.

Live dealer games, a key factor in the growth of online casinos in New Jersey, should bolster those revenue numbers even more.

The company announced there will be employment opportunities with Playtech launching the US studio, but did not provide further details.
