Fast start, slow finish for October BetMGM Online Series

Large, guarantee-busting turnouts were witnessed at the initial two events on Sunday, October 24th.

Once again, the $20 “Mini” event was incredibly popular, with a staggering 2,507 participants. Although it initially guaranteed $10,000, the high number of entries resulted in a prize pool exceeding $45,000, making it one of the largest in the series.

Throughout the week, the majority of events successfully met their guarantees. However, on the final day of action, which coincided with Halloween, BetMGM Poker MI experienced more disappointment than excitement. Unfortunately, neither of the two events managed to attract enough participants to reach their guarantees, resulting in overlays.

The “Sunday Special” tournament, which required a $215 buy-in and promised a $40,000 prize pool, enticed 160 participants, resulting in an additional $8,000. On the other hand, the high roller event marking the end of the series had a buy-in of $1,060 and guaranteed $50,000, but only attracted 38 players. As a result, BetMGM Poker MI had to contribute an extra $12,000 to meet the promised prize pool.

Last Saturday, a progressive knockout bounty tournament with a buy-in of $320 was scheduled, but unfortunately, it did not appear in the client, leading to the assumption that it was canceled.

Below, you will find a summary of the field sizes and prize pools for all the events taking place in the October BetMGM Online Series.

Online series total money award slips from summer highs

With a total of just above $288,000 in winnings, this seventh edition of the BetMGM online poker series is the least lucrative one yet.

The series in September yielded a prize pool of slightly more than $357,000 for the players. This came after the August series, where the highest amount ever awarded in the BetMGM Online Series was over $432,000.

So far, the October BetMGM Online Series had the lowest total guarantees, which amounted to $230,000.

Heads-up battle with PokerStars MI continues for BetMGM Poker MI

BetMGM Poker MI is putting up a strong fight against its only online poker rival in Michigan, PokerStars MI.

Despite attracting over 800 entries, the Michigan Classic on PokerStars MI, which had a $300 buy-in and a $250,000 guarantee, still had an overlay of nearly $24,000, competing directly with the initial two days of the BetMGM Online Series.

Despite this, the prize money given in one PokerStars MI event was almost equivalent to the total prize money awarded throughout the entire BetMGM Online Series.

For now, the ongoing competition between PokerStars and BetMGM in the Michigan online poker scene will persist. However, both platforms are keeping an eye out for the possible entry of WSOP Michigan, which may happen sooner rather than later.
