Coming into the 2022 NFL Season, Michigan sports bettors are well aware that the Detroit Lions aren’t a favorite to win much this year.

Over 6.5 sits at -125, while under 6.5 is at +105. PointsBet Sportsbook MI has the over 6.5 at -134, while the under is at +115.
How over/under win totals work
There are NFL odds for every team’s win total coming into the 2022 season.
They range from as low as 4.5 (Houston Texans) to as high as 11.5 (Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Buffalo Bills).
Each option carries a moneyline to factor in the odds. In the case of the Lions, the over’s odds are more favorable to the sportsbook.
That means you’d win a little bit less if you wager the over and it hits than if you wagered on the under and that hit.
To place a win total bet, you just need to open your respective sportsbook and find the win total market.
Then, click on the bet you wish to make, either the over or the under, and place your bet. Based on the odds, you can see how much you can win with a correct selection.
For the Lions, a $100 bet on the over at -125 would pay out $180 (the original bet, plus $80 in winnings). That same $100 bet on the under would pay out $205 (the original bet, plus $105 in winnings).
Some sportsbooks will offer alternative win total odds where you can have a little more variety to pick the number you like best. Each number you move the total up or down will obviously then impact the moneyline odds associated with the over and the under.
For example, BetRivers Sportsbook MI lists the Lions over/under at 5.5 games. However, the over has a moneyline of -240, while the under carries at +190 line.

This year, sports bettors are jumping on the Lions to go over 6.5 wins. According to BetMGM, the Lions over is the most-bet on win total ticket right now. The over is getting 91% of the tickets and 87% of the handle.
Currently, the Lions are only favored in three of their 17 games for the 2022 season.
