There has not been much to cheer about for the Detroit Pistons this season. But finally, there’s an app to bet on thanks to online gambling in Michigan.

The local NBA team has the league’s worst record entering the weekend at 3-11. Michigan residents now have a chance for more stake in the games as the Pistons stumble along to start the season.

Online sports betting launched at noon, just in time for a pair of weekend home games against Houston on Friday and then Philadelphia on Saturday. If you haven’t downloaded a sportsbook app yet, here’s how to get started in Michigan.

In honor of the launch, sportsbooks such as DraftKings and PointsBet offer some deals and special bonuses for this weekend’s Pistons games. Here are the best of the bunch.

DraftKings: $25 when the Pistons hit a 3-pointer

Despite the Pistons futility, even they are virtually guaranteed to hit a 3-pointer tonight against the Rockets. Through 14 games, the Pistons’ season-low for triples made is eight in the opener against Minnesota.

When one of the Pistons makes a 3-pointer tonight, DraftKings Michigan players will also score. The sportsbook is offering a “double-your-money” promo for new users. It comes in the form of an odds boost. A $50 maximum bet on whether the Pistons knock down a 3-pointer should score easily. Here’s how to opt-in:

  • Log into DraftKings Sportsbook.
  • Click on “Promos” and opt into the Pistons 3-point bonus.
  • A single-use odds boost will show up at +100 odds.
  • Place a max bet of $50 after selecting the boost from your betslip.

Your bet must be placed prior to tipoff on Jan. 22.

DraftKings customers will win no matter how the Pistons finish tonight.

FanDuel Super Boost an easy win for early scoring

FanDuel has a Super Boost for Friday night’s game against the Rockets that’s almost assured to be a winner.

The sportsbook is offering a +100 odds boost (from -10,000) for the Pistons to score 10 or more points in the first quarter of the game. The Pistons have scored at least that in every quarter this season.

There is a $50 maximum bet on the boost. Here’s how to opt-in:

In addition, the sportsbook reported Friday that the first online sports bet in Michigan had Pistons flavor. At 12:02 p.m., a player bet $10 that Jerami Grant would be the game’s leading scorer Friday night at +135 odds for a total payout of $23.50.

PointsBet giving $1 for every Pistons point

PointsBet is also betting big on the Pistons and customers should follow suit — at least for Saturday. Any new customer who places a $25+ bet on the Pistons to win Saturday against the 76ers will receive $1 in free bets for every point the Pistons score, regardless if they win or lose.

Here’s how it works:

Note that it’s only for core moneyline bets and not in-play betting. No free bets can be used either. By the way, even the lowly Pistons are averaging 109.4 points per game, a pretty nice score!
