Fox Bet: Bank Quick $10 As Blake Griffin Faces Former Detroit Pistons Teammates

Blake Griffin Returns to Detroit Brooklyn Nets

He hadn’t dunked in a game since 2019. So of course, the first basket for Blake Griffin as a member of the Brooklyn Nets was a slam.

His old team, the Detroit Pistons, has a chance for revenge Friday night against their former player.

When Detroit scores its first point in the 7 p.m. EST game at Little Caesars Arena, Fox Bet customers in MI can cash in on a free $10. Dunk, free throw, 3-pointer, whatever. If it’s a point, it’s a win.

The Super Boost was posted Friday and gives a chance for Michigan sports bettors to give their bankroll a shot in the arm, much like Griffin’s addition could help Brooklyn’s title chances.

This is the second easy-money wager posted this week by a Michigan operator. PointsBet is giving away $20 to those who think the Detroit Tigers can stay within 84 runs of the Cleveland Indians next week on Opening Day.

Blake Griffin’s buyout from Detroit was amicable

Although the dunk was a fun piece of trivia for the injury-riddled former high-flyer, there aren’t any hard feelings between the star and his former team as Griffin briefly returns to Detroit.

Griffin was traded to the Pistons in 2018 and led Detroit to the 2019 playoffs, despite his injuries. The former Los Angeles Clippers stalwart earned third-team All-NBA honors in the process. Since then, it’s gone downhill for the Oklahoma alum.

So much so, that the rebuilding Pistons bought out a year-plus of his remaining contract this month to let him walk. The Pistons were on the hook for $56.5 million, according to ESPN’s Bobby Marks, but Griffin agreed to forfeit $13.3 million to become a free agent.

He signed with Brooklyn, teaming with Kyrie Irving, Kevin Durant and James Harden in his quest to win a championship. Now, Griffin returns to Detroit for the first time since then.

Brooklyn Nets among favorites after James Harden trade

Griffin’s addition helps fortify the Brooklyn bench, but the earlier trade for Harden from the Houston Rockets gave the Nets’ title hopes a lift-off.

The Nets became a strong No. 2 for title odds across the board after the trade, according to Chris Sheridan of The Lines.

At Fox Bet, the Nets are now the favorites at +250, with the odds boosted on another special at +275. The defending champion Los Angeles Lakers are at +290 (also currently boosted to +333).
