Michigan Online Casinos Hover Near Century Mark Again With $94.9 Million Of April Revenue
Michigan again teased with breaking through the nine-figures threshold of monthly internet gaming revenue.
MI online casinos spurred $94.9 million in April revenue, according to numbers released Friday by the Michigan Gaming Control Board. That total resulted in $17.8 million in taxes for the state, with $5.2 million in revenue for Detroit and $1.8 million in revenue for tribal operators.
In short order, the Michigan internet gaming market, which also includes a small amount of online poker revenue, has joined New Jersey and Pennsylvania in the top tier of online casino states.
BetMGM Casino once again drove the industry-leading brand, earning $36.8 million of April revenue to lead the market with a 38.8% share.
In the first 99 days of internet gaming, Michigan operators have raised $299.0 million in revenue. That total translates to $53.4 million in state taxes and $15.7 million in taxes and fees for the city of Detroit, along with $5.4 million for tribal operators.

BetMGM leads field of Michigan operators
BetMGM, one of two operators with online poker (along with PokerStars MI), has led Michigan internet gaming operators each month since the Jan. 22 launch.
FanDuel was second with $15.7 million of revenue for a 16.5% market share. DraftKings was third ($15.5 million, 16.4% share); BetRivers was fourth ($6.7 million, 7.0% share); and Stars Casino/PokerStars was fifth ($4.7 million, 5.0% share).
BetMGM was one of two operators to grow revenue from March to April, along with Golden Nugget Casino.
One of the state’s newest operators, PlayGunLake powered by Parx Casino, reported $180,092 in its first eight days of operation after launching April 23.
On May 4, a 13th internet gaming operator entered the market.
PointsBet Casino added to its sports betting brand by launching its first online casino of any kind here in MI. The operator will be on next month’s MGCB revenue report.
