Play Gun Lake, Powered By Parx Casino, Is 12th Michigan Online Casino To Launch

Michigan’s 12th online casino has launched, as Play Gun Lake is live. The site is powered by Parx Casino.

The platform, which has partnered with West Michigan’s Gun Lake Tribe, has not yet been authorized to offer online sports betting.

The Michigan Gaming Control Board announced that Parx can offer internet casino gaming as of 11 a.m. ET Friday. The website was live Friday evening, along with a press release announcing the launch just after 7 p.m.

Play Gun Lake is Michigan’s 12th online casino

Play Gun Lake joins a crowded field of online casino brands that will eventually grow to 15.

“We are thrilled to officially announce the launch of Play Gun Lake, powered by our partner Parx Casino. Together, we are excited to offer Michigan players the latest high quality online gaming platform,” said Jose Flores, vice president and general manager for Gun Lake Casino. “Our guests can now play their favorite casino games online, while expecting the same trusted entertainment experience provided by Gun Lake Casino.”

Play Gun Lake has 31 slots and seven table games.

Early success and more internet gaming on the way

The online operators that have not been approved are PointsBet for internet gaming, and FireKeepers and Soaring Eagle for both sports betting and internet gaming.

None of those three brands, nor Gun Lake, has announced plans to eventually offer online poker. They will be online casinos at the start.

Online sports betting and internet gaming launched on Jan. 22 in Michigan. The effort has been a tremendous success, raising $204.2 million in internet gaming revenue in the first 69 days.

West Michigan’s Gun Lake Tribe had busy week

The Gun Lake Tribe operates Gun Lake Casino in Wayland.

The tribe has partnered with Parx for its online gambling products. Parx Casino is in suburban Philadelphia and operates online products throughout Pennsylvania.

Gun Lake Casino announced a $300 million expansion project this week, adding a resort soon to the Grand Rapids-area casino.

Parx is also partnered with PlayTech, a United Kingdom casino gaming supplier looking to expand in the US market.

PlayTech has already secured live gaming studios in Southfield, a Detroit suburb.

“We welcome the addition of Gun Lake Casino and partner Parx to Michigan’s growing online gaming market of 13 operators and providers,” said MGCB executive director Richard Kalm in a statement. “Their participation will generate revenue to support education, economic development and the Gun Lake Band’s tribal community.”

Kalm also announced Friday he’s stepping down soon, and Gov. Gretchen Whitmer has already announced her nominee, MGCB deputy director Henry Williams, for Kalm’s replacement.
