Opening Day Betting Promos Detroit Tigers 2021

With football season a distant memory and March Madness wrapping this weekend, what’s next for Michigan sports bettors? Baseball, Opening Day — and betting promos, of course.

The state’s industry is about to enter its first sports betting offseason, but operators are still clamoring for market share in the crucial Great Lakes State.

So eyes are turning to Major League Baseball, which is not as traditional as a betting sport as football but one that offers hundreds of wagering chances throughout the summer.

That rhythm begins locally Thursday afternoon, as the Detroit Tigers play host to the Cleveland Indians for Opening Day, the first of 162 games.

You can see why becoming the preferred operator for Michigan baseball bettors is a worthy goal. Here’s how sports betting companies are using promotions this week to cement that relationship.

BetMGM giving risk-free $25 Tigers opening day bet

The early market success for BetMGM has been one of the big stories in Michigan, as the operator is taking advantage of a strong position here.

The brand is looking to continue that momentum into the summer with a strong start to baseball season in April.

One of the perks is a risk-free $25 bet on the Tigers’ opener. All you have to do is opt into the contest under the promotions tab, and click to use the token on the bet slip when wagering on Thursday’s game.

If you lose the bet, you will be given the amount of your losing stake back (up to $25) in free bets.

In addition, you can opt into the Home Run Boost promotion. There, an opt-in and $25 wager on any Opening Day game gets you $1 in free bets for every home run hit on Opening Day.

Plus, $99 in qualifying baseball wagers can get you a season-long subscription to MLB.TV. That deal is open to the first 1,000 entrants.

BetMGM announces Detroit Tigers partnership on season’s eve

BetMGM was flooding the zone with baseball news Wednesday.

The operator also announced a partnership with the Tigers, the third such deal with a Detroit professional team. BetMGM also has deals with the Detroit Lions and Red Wings.

For the multi-year Tigers’ partnership, BetMGM will be featured on the Comerica Park scoreboard, along with other promotional set pieces and social media content.

BetMGM signage at the ballpark will adorn the out-of-town scoreboard and speed pitch LED board.

DraftKings giving profit boosts to Opening Day bettors

DraftKings Sportsbook is giving bettors a boost to start baseball season.

An opt-in and a $5 bet on Thursday’s New York Yankees opener against the Toronto Blue Jays will trigger a bountiful bonus.

After placing the bet (qualifying wagers must be -250 odds or longer), a separate profit boost will be available.

Boosts will be for 25%, 50%, 100% or 162%. They must be used on a baseball bet with a $25 maximum wager and will available for seven days.

According to DraftKings, 33% of Michigan futures handle is on the San Diego Padres to win the World Series.

Steve Buchanan, the lead MLB analyst at DraftKings, told Playinmichigan why that’s not a bad bet, among other baseball topics leading up to the season.

BetRivers bettors pile up free bets with home runs

Over at BetRivers, $100 of wagers on Opening Day games will trigger a free bet bonus.

Bettors then earn $1 in free bets for every home run hit Thursday in any MLB game.

Place wagers by 1 p.m. EST Thursday to qualify. House Specials do not qualify for these bets.

Free $10 parlay at Fox Bet

If you buy one $10 parlay, you’ll get another one free at Fox Bet to use on Thursday as part of their Opening Day betting promos.

Opt-in to the promotion in the Challenges section, then make a 3-plus leg wager (each leg with -200 minimum odds).

Four bets gives you William Hill freebie

Over at William Hill Sportsbook, the free bets have been coming strong lately.

That’s continuing on opening day, as the book is offering a free $50 bet if you make four opening day wagers.

The qualifying wagers have to be for a $25 minimum each on either money lines or run lines.

William Hill also has a Super Boost on the Tigers winning at +300 with a $50 maximum bet.

PointsBet giving free $10 for Tigers bettors

As we reported earlier, PointsBet has as close to a can’t-lose bet as you’ll find for an Opening Day promotion.

There, fans can get a tasty odds boost for Thursday’s Tigers game that spots Detroit an 84-run line.

Even a team projected to be at the bottom of the standings should make that bet a winner.

There’s a $20 maximum wager on that one.

The company has also had a sportsbook sponsorship agreement in place with the Tigers since last summer.
