Play Gun Lake Launches Online Sports Betting, Becoming 14th Michigan Option
Play Gun Lake launched Monday afternoon as the 14th option for Michigan online sports betting.
The brand, which is a partnership of Parx Casino of Pennsylvania and the Gun Lake Band of Pottawatomi Indians of Michigan, had already launched an online casino platform in April.
Launch was approved Friday by the Michigan Gaming Control Board for Play Gun Lake, the sister platform for Gun Lake Casino in Wayland near Grand Rapids.
Play Gun Lake sports betting was available on the platform’s desktop website Monday afternoon. By Tuesday, sports betting was also available on the Apple iOS or Android app. Kambi powers the online sportsbook.
“We are thrilled to announce the official debut of Gun Lake Casino’s online sportsbook. Our dedication to providing an exceptional sports betting experience has now been expanded to a convenient and accessible service online,” said Jose Flores, vice president and general manager for Gun Lake Casino, in a news release. “The combination of our partnership with Parx Casino and the Kambi platform has allowed us to create an online sports betting option that reflects Gun Lake Casino’s unsurpassed standards. We could not be more excited to provide players with the latest high-quality sportsbook in the state of Michigan.”
15 sports available for wagers at Play Gun Lake
The launch took place mid-day on Monday with nine live events featured and four “specials” up for wagers. That included a +1000 boost for the Detroit Lions to make the NFL playoffs (was +620, according to the platform).
The platform has bet boosts to +100 odds on over bets for season college football win totals for Michigan (7.5 wins) and Michigan State (4.5).
On Monday, 15 sports were available, including a section on Olympics bets, which included 2,543 wagers. There were 39,377 soccer betting markets. Fifty-one NFL preseason markets were open for bets.
Play Gun Lake 11th In June Online Casino Revenue
PlayGunLake has already edged some competitors in its launch in the competitive Michigan online casino market.
Through June, the platform reported $1.27 million in online casino revenue and $585,200 of June revenue, which was 11th in the market.
From that revenue, Play Gun Lake had paid $183,131 in state taxes since its April online launch through June.
Soaring Eagle the only MI operator that has not yet launched
With 14 operators live for online sports betting and online casino gambling, that just leaves the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe of Michigan. That tribe owns and operates Soaring Eagle Casino Resort in Mount Pleasant, the largest tribal casino in the state.
Soaring Eagle has announced a partnership with GAN to power sports betting at the casino and online. No details about launch date are currently available, but when they are, we will provide an update.
Gun Lake retail sportsbook update coming this summer
Gun Lake Casino launched on-site sports betting last October at Stage 131 Sportsbook and Lounge.
A new venue, called 131 Sportsbar & Lounge, will replace the sportsbook as part of the casino’s $100-million expansion.
The venue will open later this summer, according to a news release. It will feature floor-to-ceiling LED video walls and 180° panoramic views.
Featuring over 28 million pixels and 1,000 square feet of HD viewing surface, 131 Sportsbar & Lounge “will be an unforgettable place to participate in all of the sports viewing and betting action,” according to Gun Lake Casino.
